Experiential Learning – Call for Proposals!

WCDSB teachers can propose experiential learning opportunities for their class. This could be an amazing experience for your students, and by filing out this proposal, you could cover much of the cost.

Please click here to propose an experiential learning opportunity and give your students an authentic learning experience!

NTIPodcast!

The New Teacher Induction Podcast is a new form of PD for the WCDSB. You can listen to previous sessions, workshops, and conversations with educators in our board about various topics that you need to know as a beginning teacher. You can stream or download from any device, as long as you are using your WCDSB account.

New Teacher Newsletter

What is it?

The New Teacher Newsletter gives you a chance to share your amazing, engaging, life-altering lessons (too much?) with other NTIP teachers and mentors!

There are so many exciting things happening at all of your schools, and I’m finding so much of it is driven by new teachers and our amazing mentors. I think many of us would benefit from seeing these ideas, and since release time can be hard to come by, I could go and share what I see with all of you!

How does it work?

I would come to your classroom (or wherever you may be) to take pics, videos, etc. of what your students are doing. I would then compile a few of these experiences into a doc, and send it out to all NTIP teachers and mentors periodically. I’m hoping it becomes another avenue for you all to share best practice with one another!

I want to stress, this is only to share the amazing things you are doing with your kids. It is certainly NOT evaluative or mandatory in any way. I just think you guys are awesome, and you should all benefit from each others’ awesomeness. Sharing in this way can help build community within our board, no matter the division, school, or subjects you teach. We all have something to learn from one another, and I want to help you find that learning more easily.

How do I take part?

Easy! There are 2 ways:

  1. Email matthew.figueiredo@wcdsb.ca with a time that you are available, and I will come visit. I am currently available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
  2. Email matthew.figueiredo@wcdsb.ca with any ideas, samples, pics, etc. that you would like me to add to the newsletter.

Report Card Writing

This folder contains resources for Report Card Writing.

I would recommend opening the Google Doc, Report Card Writing Resources for NTIP Teachers first.

All Things MATH!

Our Numeracy Consultants, Ministry of Edcuation, and other partners have NUMERous resources to guide you math path. (I’m so funny).

This doc will continue to grow. If you have something to share here, send it to matthew.figueiredo@wcdsb.ca

NTIP Resource List

WCDSB has numerous resources for beginning teachers. You are welcome to borrow them for the length of you time in NTIP, or until another NTIP teacher requires that resource.

Click here to access the entire NTIP catalogue.

NOTE: Due to the board office renovation, I will not have access to everything on this list until we are allowed back into the building. For the time being, I have many of the resources on the list, but bear with me if we don’t have what you need yet!

Online Resources

I will slowly compile a list of online teacher resources, and will happily share more resources that you find!

Misc. Resources

This folder hosts all teacher support resources – from how to use GAFE (Google apps), advice on teaching Arts, Global Competencies, Parent Teacher Conferencing, and more.
